Write for us
We welcome clear, original contributions that help general readers understand how public policy is framed, compared or carried out. A strong piece leaves readers better able to follow a choice, not merely more certain of a side.
What to propose
Send an idea about a policy concept, decision process, institutional role or comparison between approaches. Evergreen explainers are especially useful when they remain relevant beyond one announcement. Tell us the reader's likely question and the specific insight your piece would add.
What makes a strong pitch
Keep the proposal focused: state the subject, the central question, the intended reader and a short outline of the argument or explanation. Identify any factual claims that need careful sourcing, and flag relevant interests or relationships. We welcome a concise pitch rather than a finished article sent without context.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Please do not include confidential material or assume that an unsolicited pitch has been accepted. We will consider whether the idea fits the publication and can be handled clearly and responsibly.
A policy choice is also a choice of frame
The words used to define a problem shape the options that seem possible. We make those choices easier to notice, without prescribing a political position.
